first day

August 1, 2011

Today was the first day of our homeschool adventure.

Our day went something like this–

she read and wrote the sounds m and s,

learned how to use the math system she’ll use this year (Right Start-Level A),

I read some of Aesop’s Fables,

she started a self-portrait (idea thanks to Ms. Patty at Deep Space Sparkle),

explored our yard, hunted down some wildflowers for pressing, and made a journal entry,

learned about the parts of computer (this site was wordy for her age but mostly she looked at the pics so she could see the computer’s guts)

began the first day of the map study (more to come later),

started an experiment with bean and corn seeds,

and played a little bit of t-ball.

Today was mostly fun with only minor frustration.

I think all of this is part of the journey and look forward to seeing how both of us grow with our little school in the big woods.
